Rugby Tots & U14 Coach, Anderson Okiwe, is the Gascoines Volunteer of the Month!
Anderson Okiwe the lead coach for the club’s recently formed Rugby Tots group was presented with the Volunteer of the Month trophy by club President, Conrad Hunt, last night to acknowledge his success in getting the new group for the club’s very youngest players off the ground, as well as for his ongoing help with the coaching of the U14s.
In his opening remarks Conrad explained that a tribute to Anderson had been received from a grateful parent saying that he was an excellent coach and a very worthy winner of the award, who was not only very good at keeping the children engaged, but also understanding when they wanted to run off!
It went to say that he and his wife had had a bad experience with their older girl at Rugby Tots a few years back because the coaches kept changing which meant there was no consistency, also they didn’t appear to be as caring with the children as they should have done. In contrast, they couldn’t heap enough praise on Anderson whose leadership and coaching skills were ideal for youngsters being introduced to the game.
Conrad then introduced Phil Linley who said that Anderson’s contribution to the coaching of the U14s was based on his passion for inclusivity and helping youngsters develop both their skills and teamwork which made him a much appreciated member of the coaching team.
After the trophy had been presented, the whole U14s squad decided to support Anderson by enthusiastically joining in for the photo shoot session!
Congratulations Anderson, what a top man!
