In welcoming both parents and players to the award ceremony club President,
Conrad Hunt, explained that it was the turn of the U11s squad to put forward its
nominee as the Gascoines Player of the Month and for the first time in the three year
history of the scheme the winner had been decided by vote of all the players’
parents, which was excellent.

He went on to say that before identifying the winner, a special mention had to be
made of both Zeke Semmelroth and Elmer Rich, who came joint second, which
showed both how strong the squad was as a whole and also how close the voting
had been. And, at this point Conrad said that he was very pleased to announce that
Joe Hird had won the vote as Gascoines Player of the Month for February.

In congratulating Joe he explained that his coaches had told him that he has been
fully committed to all the games in February, scoring a hat trick in one of the matches
and also getting on the score sheet in the other games, with his pace being the
reason why he had scored so many tries. Conrad went on to say that If Joe
continued on this path and kept moving forward with both rucking and defence he
would be a force to be reckoned with at the club in the future.
